In2Green recently started offering a wide range of ecofriendly apparel and textile products - primarily for promotional purposes - many which utilize recycled cotton-blended yarns from the ECO2Cotton®brand. Products sold through the licensing arrangement include knit and woven items made from recycled yarns, which are spun from the clippings of cut-and-sew t-shirt operations. Closed-loop offerings from In2green consist of hats, t-shirts and apparel items, duck canvas, designer blankets and pet apparel products.
In2Green was started by Lori Slater, a New York interior designer, who reached a marketing agreement with textile recycler Martex Fiber Southern Corp. and its subsidiary, Jimtex Yarns, creators of the ECO2Cotton brand.
Slater said her venture was created to fill a void for sustainable products in the corporate gifts and promotional goods marketplace. Products are offered on a wholesale and retail basis.
"While some of our items include organic cotton, we are trying to push the envelope and see what is really possible with recycled," said Slater. "Recycled cotton actually offers a much better footprint - less water, land use and no new dyes."
According to the company, a portion of the proceeds is donated to "green" charities and to help sponsor environmentally conscious student activists.
In2Green is exhibiting its line at the Go Green Expo, held April 26-27 in New York City.
